2026 HCS Wizard of Oz CHINO

Can you handle a fourth Wizard of Oz post?! This one was not at the Whittier Theater, instead it was in Chino at the Verve City Church which shares property with the Romona Campus. I stopped dead in my tracks when I walked in and saw the beautiful video screen behind the stage. I knew right away it was going to present challenges. If you’ve ever taken a picture of a TV set you know what I mean. The screen is always refreshing and even though your eye can’t see it, the camera will. For the group photo I spent some time smoothing the pixels, but I can’t do that for every photo. Another issue is the screen is a very bright light source and to get the exposure right on a performer means blowing out the background. I decided to shoot tight and off to a side as much as possible. We shot individual cast photos out in the lobby before the rehearsal started.
